Privacy Policy

simpleSet is designed so your workout data stays on your device for everything you do in the app — tracking workouts, logging sets, viewing stats — with one optional exception: AI-assisted PDF import, a paid feature described below that requires creating an account. This page explains exactly what that means in practice.

What simpleSet stores, and where

Everything you enter into simpleSet — imported plans, workout sessions, logged sets, personal records, and app preferences like light/dark mode — is stored in your browser's local database (IndexedDB) on your own device, regardless of whether you have an account. If you clear your browser's site data, uninstall the app, or switch devices, that data does not carry over — simpleSet does not keep a backup copy anywhere.

Importing a plan from a file

When you import a plan from a Word document, spreadsheet, or text file on your device, that file is read and parsed entirely in your browser. It is never uploaded to a server.

Importing a plan from a PDF (AI-assisted, paid feature, requires an account)

PDF import works differently, because many PDF workout plans (especially scanned or photographed ones) can't be read reliably by an offline parser. Using it requires creating an account (email and password), used only to apply a fair daily usage limit — no other part of simpleSet needs an account. Account creation and sign-in are handled entirely by Supabase, our backend provider; your password is never seen by simpleSet's own code. When you import a PDF:

• The text or file contents of that PDF are sent to a Supabase Edge Function, which forwards them to Anthropic's Claude API to extract a structured workout plan.
• The PDF's contents are not stored beyond what's needed to complete that one request, and are not used to train any model.
• Your account (email address, and an internal account ID) is used only to apply the daily usage limit — a count of how many PDFs you've imported today, stored in Supabase's database.
• The resulting plan is returned to your browser and stored locally like any other import — it is not kept on simpleSet's server afterward.
• If this AI-assisted import is unavailable or fails, simpleSet falls back to basic local text parsing of the PDF, entirely on your device, same as other file types.

Anthropic's and Supabase's handling of data sent to them is governed by their own privacy policies: Anthropic · Supabase.

Importing a plan from Google Drive (optional)

If you choose to connect Google Drive, simpleSet uses Google's own sign-in flow to request read-only access to your Drive. This is used for one purpose only: letting you pick a single file to import as a workout plan. Specifically:

• simpleSet never sees your Google password — authentication happens entirely through Google's own sign-in screen.
• The access token Google issues is held in memory for that browser tab only. It is never written to disk, logged, or sent to any server operated by simpleSet.
• simpleSet only reads the specific file you select to import — it does not browse, list, or access any other files in your Drive.
• Closing the tab or signing out ends the session; you can revoke access at any time from your Google Account permissions page.

Analytics and tracking

simpleSet does not use analytics, tracking scripts, or advertising of any kind, and does not share data with any third party.

Cookies

simpleSet does not use cookies. It uses your browser's local storage to remember your display preferences (like theme), and — only if you've created an account for AI-assisted PDF import — your signed-in session, so you don't have to sign in again on every visit.

Your control over your data

Because all data lives in your browser, you're always in control of it. You can delete individual plans, sessions, or logged sets from within the app, or remove everything at once by clearing this site's data from your browser settings.

Children's privacy

simpleSet is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect information from children.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the "Last updated" date above will be revised. Continued use of simpleSet after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
